On Thursday, May 30th DAHR MEP Csaba Sógor was the guest speaker at the series of conferences organised by the Braşov territorial organisation of the DAHR and the Evangelical Lutheran Church. The MEP gave a speech on current European Union issues.  

At the meeting of the Employment and Social Affairs Committee (EMPL) of the European Parliament from 29 May DAHR MEP Csaba Sógor was appointed responsible for the own initiative report insisting on a EU-wide general and universal social insurance system. The document will be debated following the 202/2012 proposal of the ILO (The International Labour Organisation of the United Nations – www.ilo.org).

The Pogány-havas Micro-regional Association organized an international conference on the subject of the economic, social and natural significance of the mountain area meadows from Valea Borşa. This was part of the association’s meadow protection project, which has the goal of raising awareness on the importance of this natural resource among meadow owners and decision makers.

Remembering the beginnings of the organisation founded in 1891, the Transylvanian Carpathian Society (Erdélyi Kárpát Egyesület - EKE)  celebrated the fifth EKE days between the 10th and the 12th of May. The celebrations were held in the EKE building and so-caled “fortress” from Moldovenești, Cluj County.

The tradition of fruit cultivation and the rebirth of the local orchards were the central topics of the second Together for Şiclod! professional meeting organized by DAHR MEP Csaba Sógor, the Siklód Association and the local administration of Atid.

On Tuesday, April 23rd the Employment and Social Affairs Committee of the European Parliament voted on the own initiative report of French MEP Karima Delli (The Greens) entitled Social Housing in the European Union.

On Wednesday, April 17th the European Parliament discussed the 2012 reports on Western Balkan countries. Regarding Serbia and Kosovo, DAHR MEP Csaba Sógor expressed his opinion that a basic condition for the integration of these countries into the European community should be the satisfactory settlement of the situation of national minorities.

Csaba Sógor was one of the MEPs who took the floor at the European Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg, on Tuesday the 16th of April, in the debate started with the question addressed by Polish EPP MEP Danuta Hübner to the European Commission on regional development subsidies. 

“Croatia’s legislation regarding national minorities can serve as an example for the other European Union member states” – said EPP MEP Csaba Sógor at the Group’s Bureau meeting held on the 11th-12th of April 2013 in Dubrovnik.  At the opening of the meeting members of the European Parliament discussed Croatia’s preparedness before the accession.
