Lecture held by Csaba Sógor at the Selye János University from Slovakia

RMDSZ MEP Csaba Sógor was invited to speak at the Hungarian University of Komárno, Slovakia. The MEP held a lecture on minority rights and representation entitled Representing Hungarian interests in the European Union.

Gábor Bethlen elected Prince of Transylvania four hundred years ago

Gábor Bethlen was elected Prince of Transylvania four hundred years ago. To commemorate the occasion, two-day festivities were held on the 25th and 26th of October in Aiud and Baia Mare. The ecumenical church service held at the cathedral in Alba-Iulia, followed by the official opening of the event was attended by members of the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (RMDSZ), president Hunor Kelemen, MEP Csaba Sógor, Deputy Secretary General Csilla Hegedüs, senator Attila László and president of the RMDSZ’s territorial organization, Krisztián Kováts.

RMDSZ MEPs’ common press release regarding the Hungarian revolution of 1956

The revolution of 1956 demonstrates the Hungarian nation’s love for freedom and opposition to foreign oppression. For us, Hungarians living in the Carpathian Basin, it is also represents a day of solidarity and of standing up for our rights. The 23rd of October 1956 kindled hope in the Hungarians from Hungary and from abroad that communism can be defeated. Nevertheless, the following days were dark ones for the revolutionaries and for those who sympathised with them.

MEP Csaba Sógor: Subsidiary, solidarity and strong work ethics are European principles to be followed

The aim of the project My place in the EU? initiated by the volunteers of the Diakonia Christian Foundation from Reghin as part of the Youth in Action movement is to broaden the knowledge of young people living in Reghin and the surrounding areas on the subject of the European Union, and what it means to be an EU citizen. DAHR MEP Csaba Sógor held a lecture at the event on Sunday, 25th of August.

The celebrations commemorating 164 years since the battle from Nyergestető (Piatra Niergeş, Harghita County) took place on Sunday, 4 August. The event was organised by the local administration of Cozmeni. DAHR MEP Csaba Sógor greeted the public through a ceremonial speech.

Discussions on EU financing opportunities and EU 2020 priorities at Remetea

Csaba Sógor met with local administration leaders and civil servants in Remetea. MP Moldován József and Tímea Veres-Nagy form the PONT group were also present at the event organised by the local administration on Friday.

Discussions on the changing Europe at the 10th EU Camp

DAHR MEPs Csaba Sógor and Iuliu Winkler held presentations on the topic of the changing Europe on Friday, at the 10th EU Camp organized by the Hungarian Youth Council of Romania at Izvorul Muresului. The debate, entitled New Europe Now! – Let’s build it together, was opened by DAHR senator and president of the Kós Károly Akadémia Foundation, Markó Béla.
