The social phenomenon of drug abuse gets little attention in Harghita County
Drug abuse, just like alcoholism is social problem that is treated as a taboo in Hargita County. Even though the phenomenon is not a pervasive social problem in the region, it no doubt has an increasing tendency, concluded the specialists during a discussion organised on the 30th of March at the County Council. The discussion was preceded by an exhibition on the subject, which can be currently visited in Csíkszereda/Miercurea Ciuc. The exhibition was organised by the Áradat Association and sponsored by EPP MEP Csaba Sógor.

The Hungarian community of Arad commemorated Gyula Salacz and Pál Jávor
The Hungarian community of Arad commemorated former mayor Gyula Salacz and actor Pál Jávor on the 31st of January. Gyula Salacz was mayor for 26 years (1875-1901). He strongly contributed towards the economic revitalisation of the economy and the preservation of its cultural values. The Hungarian community of Arad also remembered actor Pál Jávor, imprisoned in 1944 for refusing to give out his Jewish wife’s whereabouts.

European funds to be available again from 2016
Leaders of local public administration and public officials had the opportunity to hear technical information about the European funds that will soon become available in Romania. Participants of the Youth Business Programme to win American scholarships
Young Hungarians from Transylvania had the opportunity to expand their knowledge on entrepreneurship, marketing and media at this year’s Youth Business Programme Camp. The most talented high school students attending the training programme joined the competition for a one-month start-up training at the Boston MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).

RMDSZ MEPs on immigration in Izvorul Mureșului
On the 11th July Iuliu Winkler and Csaba Sógor RMDSZ MEPs held a discussion on the topic of migration at the EU Camp organized at Izvorul Mureșului by the Hungarian Youth Conference (MIÉRT), the Executive Presidency of RMDSZ and the Kós Károly Academy Foundation between the 7th and 12th July for the 12th time this year.

The representative of the Turskish minority from Bulgaria hosted by Csaba Sógor in Cluj Napoca
Ilhan Kyuchyuk, the Turkish MEP from Bulgaria was introduced in the situation of the Hungarian minority in Romania and was informed about the specific problems of this community faces. The liberal politician visited Cluj Napoca upon the invitation of Csaba Sógor, RMDSZ MEP, holding a presentation on the 26th of June as a part of the European Talking Nights series, organised in cooperation with the Andor Járosi Cultural Workshop.

The meeting of the settlements bearing the Tárkány name was organized for the 14th time this year. This time it was Nagytárkány in Slovakia that hosted the event on the 6th and 7th of June, where the Romanian and Hungarian delegations have also been participating.
