On the 14th of March, DAHR’s MEP Csaba Sógor made a speech in front of those gathered at the commemoration:
„Dear participants, dear colleagues and co-workers!
Today we, Hungarians – from Hungary and beyond – celebrate all over the world together with those who have been robbed of their fundamental rights in education, language use or the practice of their civil rights.
We commemorate this historical event, the revolution of 1848, alongside our Polish brothers and remember the war of independence that has become the subject of our common historical heritage through the participation of generals József Bem and Henryk Dembiòski”.
At the initiative of the Hungarian MEP from Transylvania, at the end of the commemoration, attendees sang the Hungarian national anthem and one of the popular revolutionary recruiting songs of the time, the Kossuth song.
