The EU has to promote the dialogue between the majority and minorities, said Csaba Sógor in the European Parliament. The politician of the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (RMDSZ) thinks that while the EU rightly condemns violation of human rights outside its territory, it pays less attention to minority rights within its borders.
2-5 October was a week in Strasbourg where the relations between the majority and minorities were several times on the agenda. The Catalan referendum case brought to the surface a lot of unsolved issues. This week the EU hosted Ludovic Orban, president of the National Liberal Party of Romania. He stated that Romania is a model-state in respecting minority rights and denied that any tensions exist in this regard in the country.
