The Talentum Foundation from Miercurea Ciuc is fifteen years old
The Talentum Foundation was started fifteen years ago by young, enthusiastic teachers and their friends in Miercurea Ciuc with the aim to provide extracurricular activities for children in Harghita County. They’ve mobilized several hundred children during the past years through their play houses organized in holidays and at community events.
On the occasion of the anniversary, the Foundation organized yet another playhouse at the József Attila Elementary School in Miercurea Ciuc where children had the opportunity to prepare gift cards, holiday packages and gift boxes. After the children’s programs, former and current activists of the foundation commemorated the best moments of their activity.
DAHR’s MEP Csaba Sógor was a guest of the event. “I try to emphasize the importance of the NGO sector whenever I have the possibility. Since the start of the crisis, we know that we need a strong civil society, communities with solidarity that can combine professional training with creativity, in order to produce innovative ideas. We need creative people in a strong and active society, and creativity needs to be nurtured since childhood. This is the importance of the Talentum Foundation – said Csaba Sógor who has been a supporter of the foundation for many years.
President of the Talentum Foundation, Nóra Bogács said that the road that led them here was long and that their work is not only joy, but sometimes hard labor as well.
- We need support in order to ensure the survival of the Foundation because we need to supply special materials for the children. We’ve tried to get support from many places over the years and we have been turned down in some cases. But even though we struggle with time, fatigue, projects and bureaucracy, we still consider that it is worth showing all these children the joys of arts and crafts. We do everything for these smiling, happy faces – said Nóra Bogács who added that since its establishment it has been the goal of the Foundation to create an institution in the city that specializes in offering arts and crafts activities for children and they have not renounced this idea.
