The youth of Háromszék prepares for active political involvement – MEP Csaba Sógor supports the HÁRIT initiative
The Hungarian Youth Council from Háromszék (HÁRIT) organized a conference at Arcus between the 14th and the 16th of October as part of their „100 young people into the local governments” program. As known, the youth organization from Covasna County announced a program that aims to strengthen representation of young people in local governments, through the support of one hundred young candidates at the local elections next year.
Candidates have had the chance to participate in several interesting lectures this weekend. Besides presentations in about regional development, tourism and agriculture, participants could learn about campaign strategy from campaign specialist Bálint Porcsalmi. Sándor Tamás, president of the Covasna County Council, Árpád Antal, mayor of Sf. Gheorghe, János Demeter, vice-president of the Covasna County Council and MEP Csaba Sógor also shared their experiences with the young candidates. All of them stressed the importance of hard work and an open minded, informal attitude towards people.
“It is not enough if people know your name, they also need to know what you have done and continue to do for their community. I would suggest this career to those who can show commitment and who can put their personal interests aside and work not only in campaigns, but throughout their entire mandate” – said DAHR’s MEP. Róbert Grüman, president of HÁRIT thanked Csaba Sógor for his support for the program and the fact that he has been a constant supporter of the organization for over two years.
“Through its activities, HÁRIT intends to motivate not only the youth in Háromszék, but young people all over Szeklerland, it represents this generation and contributes to social knowledge. As an MEP, I consider regular contact with the youth to be highly important, as I am trying to spread the European ideas, in order for the next generation to feel that Europe, the European Parliament is much closer to them” – explained Csaba Sógor, who added that they intend to organize more common events next year.
