Participants from all over tha Carpathian Basin arrived at the Net-camp held between the 31st of July and the 7th of August in Invoru Muresului. The program of the camp was centered on the theme Christian and Hungarian presence and solidarity in the Europe.

More than 300 people attended the event organized by the Transylvanian Net Association from Miercurea Ciuc and the Net Community Development Catholic Association from Budapest. Participants open towards Christian values, national and European identity had a chance to strengthen their Christian beliefs through spiritual, professional and cultural programs. The Net-camp provided meaningful pass times for adults and children alike, the adult, youth and child groups provided plenty of chance to recharge for all.

DAHR’s MEP Csaba Sógor opened the series of events of the camp on Saturday with his presentation entitled Europe, a spiritual community: stone walls and auras. The Hungarian politician from Transylvania spoke about the importance of preserving and passing on Christian values. He explained that European civilization is based on Christian belief, Greek philosophy and Roman law, this is why Christians need to take responsibility for the future and cannot let their values disappear.

“Christian Europe is fading away, the West is becoming increasingly pagan. Even more, some prognoses say that in a few decades Muslim communities will be in majority. Us, Christians we need to maintain a balance between the changing western world and the rapidly evolving far east” – Sógor explained. He believes that both civilizations offer edification, while the first presents the threats of alienation between individuals, the latter shows the power of community solidarity.

Csaba Sógor believes that Christians know that the preservation of the world is a task received from God. “The Bible teaches us to be salt and light. We must not forget this because there is no life without these” – said the MEP.
