2011-08-01

Organized by the Calasanctius Scolarship Foundation, the CTP Transylvania Foundation, the Sapientia University and the Youth Council of Csík Region, the Transylvanian Youth Business Program took place between the 1st and 6th of August, 2011. As in previous years, DAHR’s MEP Csaba Sógor opened the event held at the Miercurea Ciuc campus of the Sapientia University.

The Program, held annually in Budapest, Miercurea Ciuc and Beregszász, aims to familiarize high-school students with the world of business. The particularity of this year’s programme is, that students can work in four special groups: they can learn business planning at beginner and advanced levels, and they can also develop their abilities in marketing and media planning modules.

Participants can broaden their knowledge through attending presentations in the morning, and by putting their new skills into practice in workshops in the afternoon. The teams have to compile a business, marketing or media plan in the week of the program and present it to a specialist jury. Over 80 students applied for the Transylvanian Youth Business Program.

- We started to contemplate about this program in 1999. We did not realize back then what kind of crisis our society will have to face. Today we can see that we need to overcome not only the economic, but the social and moral crisis as well. The Transylvanian Youth Business Program prepares student for working also in favor of the society and their community – said MEP Csaba Sógor at the opening ceremony. He believes that through work we can accept responsibility for our fellow man, this is why it is important to do everything in compliance with Christian values.

Csaba Sógor also stated that the future of our society depends on whether we will be able to subdue individual interest in favor of the community. – The political sector cannot build communities all by itself, we need a strong civic sector as well – summarized Sógor who has been a supporter of the program for many years.
