2010-11-14

MEP Csaba Sógor made a presentation entitled The Future of Transylvania and Europe in the EU at the first edition of the Youth Forum of Kézdiszék held at Oituz between 13 and 14 of November, 2010.

With regards to the future development of Transylvania and Europe Csaba Sógor presented several statistics from different fields. He spoke of agricultural and environmental issues, the aging of the European population, the social inclusion of the Roma minority and presented the European poverty statistics.

In his speech the MEP said that Europe needs to build a sustainable society based on strong, well functioning institutions. The regions of Europe have a specific interest within the EU beyond the interest of the members states. – We need to overcome our individual feelings, we need to put aside our historical grievances and we must urge reconciliation. Our future depends on whether we are able to leave all these behind and coordinate the different interests – explained Csaba Sógor.

Besides Europe’s and Transylvania’s future, the youth of Kézdiszék was particularly interested in the opportunities available to young persons. Csaba Sógor said that there is no certain way to prepare for the future changes in society, economy or other areas. DAHR’s politician considers that competitiveness lies within our ability to rely on more than one pillar in business, industry or any other field.

- The state needs to realize that education is the most profitable investment, while young people need to realize the importance of knowledge and language skills. In the future it will become ever more obvious that we cannot delimitate social and technical sciences – explained MEP Csaba Sógor.
