Sógor: It is important for young people to develop a sense of ethics besides a good business sense

The tenth edition of the Youth Business Programme (YBP) started this week in Miercurea Ciuc. The contest is organized by the Calasanctius Training Program and  CTP Transylvania in collaboration with the Youth Council of the Ciuc Region between 2-7 August.


The official opening of the programme was held on the 2nd of August at the Sapientia University.

The YBP started ten years ago with the intent to enhance high-school student’s business knowledge, strengthen their communication skills and teamwork-ability. The students taking part in the programme prepare real business plans aided by personalities with vaste experience in the private sector.

Similarly to previous years in the previous years, MEP Csaba Sógor opened the programme.

- We cannot live in this fast-track world without long-term plans; we need a well prepared plan in order to progress. We need sustainable plans that are also beneficial to society. We talk about the financial crisis, but it is much deeper, it has a moral and ethical side as well. Therefore it is very important that young people develop a sense of ethics besides a good business sense – said Csaba Sógor in his opening remarks.

This year four teams consisting of eight students each will present their skills, creativity and innovative ideas to to the jury on the 7th of August. Given the  tenth anniversary of the programme, the best plans of the last ten years will also be awarded besides this year’s winners at the closing ceremony. MEP Csaba Sógor will invite the makers of the best plan of the last ten years to Brussels.

The YBP will soon reach its fifth edition in Subcarpathia, Ukraine as well, so in accordance with Hungarian solidarity in the Carpathian Basin, Csaba Sógor will invite their best team as well to Brussels.
