Special installations help sharing the stories of King Matthias in Cluj
Special installations, that can also be used as tables and benches tell about the spirit and stories of King Matthias in six public parks of Cluj-Napoca. They were set by Cluj County Youth Forum (KIFOR) for the request of Cluj County Organization of RMDSZ.
RMDSZ MEP Csaba Sógor is one of the supporters of the project that revives the 575th anniversary of the birth of King Matthias. In his presence, on 7th July, Saturday, the newest installation that pays tribute to the memory of the Just King was inaugurated at the Engels Square.
"King Matthias is still considered to be a memorable figure of the European heritage. Lots of legends could be shared about Him, his wisdom and renaissance spirit that today’s world still needs", said Sógor.
"There is a red square mark on every installation that indicates King Matthias’s place at the table, anyone can sit next to “Him” to take a rest or to read the stories. We placed these special installations in the residential areas of Cluj-Napoca so that the citizens could encounter the stories of Matthias on a daily basis. The aim is that the Romanian community would also realize why His legacy is important to us ", said Géza Antal, Executive Director of Cluj County Organization of RMDSZ. He explained that the goal was to revive King Matthias's spirit in an innovative way, to recall stories that can be read in four languages. This way not only citizens of Cluj, but also tourists could "enjoy the wisdom of our king".
So far we can discover the installations introducing the Matthias-stories in the Mercur Park, Armatura Park, Seven Chieftains Square, Somes river (Donat Quarter), Colina Park and the Engels Square. According to KIFOR’s plans in the forthcoming period we will “sit at the table with King Matthias" in six more locations of Kolozsvár, at two Monostor and two Sétatér venues, on the Citadell and also in the Vasutas Park.
