Csaba Sógor in Târgu-Mureș: the EU can and should be criticized

2018-08-11

“The EU has a lot of advantages, but it can be criticized as well. In the present the union is shaped by the European nations and the future is also in our hands. As a consequence, our responsability is also shared" - said Csaba Sógor in Targu-Mures, at the Sapientia Summer University of the Targu-Mures department.

On Saturday 11 August the RMDSZ MEP held a presentation entitled the European Union’s role around the world. In his presentation Csaba Sógor talked about the prejudices and misconceptions of the public opinion, as well as the pessimistic voices and discourse about deficiencies of the EU that make us forget the advantages of the union. “People tend to take European funds, job opportunities, educational and mobility programs for granted, despite the fact that there’s a daily fight to make them also available in the future” - argued Sógor.  It is a mistake to view the EU like a far-off institution that we cannot influence. We are the European Union. The decisions are made by the member states.

The RMDSZ politician explained: the EU has a lot of advantages, but it can be criticized as well. It is our call to shape the future of the European Union.
“Looking beyond critics, the EU has a lot of advantages and we think it’s still the future. Every member state participates in its construction” - said Csaba Sógor who thinks it’s a fair expectation that our interests in minority protection or as Central and Eastern Europe, would prevail.
