The church of Cetatea de Baltă/Küküllővár was renovated
“In Transylvania we build churches and we fill them with life. We can show a good example to the whole of Europe by keeping our communities strong. We can prove that it is worth believing and rejoicing in the Lord”, said MEP Csaba Sógor in his celebratory speech in Cetatea de Baltă/Küküllővár at the consecrating service of the newly renovated church.
The event was highly significant for the Reformed community of Cetatea de Baltă/Küküllővár in the 500th celebratory year of the Reformation. The RMDSZ MEP also mentioned that on the occasion of the memorial year, the European Parliament also hosted several events, focusing on Christian values.
The bishop of the Transylvanian Reformed Church District, Béla Kató outlined in his sermon: “When you finished the daily work and went to sleep, God continued his work on the renovation of this church and secured the much needed funding from abroad. This is how you have been able to bring the renovation to an end.”
The church originating from the era of the Árpád dynasty is famous for its mural. The building was renovated with the support of the Hungarian National Cultural Fund and the Rómer Flóris project. The construction work was coordinated by the László Teleki Fundation.
