Between the 14th and 16th of November in Sânvăsii the European Union's immigration, family, and employment policies were debated on by young applicants, who competed for a one-month internship position in the Brussels and Strasbourg office of RMDSZ MEP Csaba Sógor.

The candidates had to submit their application documents until the 15th of October. The top 25 candidates who successfully passed the written exam in October had the opportunity to participate in a training session held by communication specialist Magor Kádár.

The participants simulated a plenary session of the European Parliament, where they debated on family policy issuess and the EU-Moldova Association Agreement. The young MEPs then presented their points of view at a make believe press conference, after which they simulated a meeting of the European Council as heads of states and governments. A need for a common European immigration policy was on the agenda, after which the internship candidates discussed youth unemployment in the EU.

“We hope that, besides being a great opportunity for us to get to know each other, this training session will also be a good learning opportunity for you. The schedule included real problems and current challenges faced by the EU. It gives me great pleasure each year to see such well educated young people apply for an internship, as it is always difficult to only choose ten of them in the end”, summed up at the conclusion of the debate MEP Csaba Sógor, who believes that the internship is an opportunity to gain practical experiences, that the young participants can benefit from upon their return home.
