Csaba Sógor in Lutita: Decisions in Brussels should be taken together with us
“Lutița is the village, where our Szekler ancestors decided about their own future as an autonomous community. We can keep the memory of this place alive by not giving up our aspirations” – stated MEP Csaba Sógor during his electoral visit to the region of Odorhei, one stop of which was Lutița, the village in which in 1848 the Szekler national convention decided to revolt against Austrian troops.
RMDSZ MP István Antal was also present at the meeting with the local leaders, where Csaba Sógor urged locals to vote in the EP elections: “Lutița is a prominent memorial site in Szeklerland, which still bears a message for us today: it is a symbol of the unity of the Szekler community, reminding us the importance of deciding our future ourselves. We must not let others take decisions about us in our absence.”
