Do You Speak European is a competition initiated by the Assembly of European Regions and it has reached its second edition. Its aim is to present young people with an opportunity to present what the European Union means to them.

The competition is organized on regional, national and European levels and the Romanian national final was held at the Kónya Ádám Cultural House in Sfintu Gheorghe on Saturday, March 27th. The contest featured a short presentation of the counties that have won their regional contests: Vrancea, Caras-Severin, Covasna and Hunedoara.

All the teams prepared a short presentation that described their opinion about the EU. The presentations were judged by a jury composed of MEP Csaba Sógor, János Demeter, vice-president of the Covasna County Assembly and Roman Grosos, the director of the Covasna County Youth Directorate. They decided which team will represent Romania on the European final on May 19th in Brussels.

MEP Csaba Sógor expressed the jury’s opinion that Hunedoara County’s representatives will take part in the final contest and will be the ones to face the national winners of other member states. „The students from Hunedoara County had a meaningful and vivid presentation. They tried to present the national characteristic of each member state beyond presenting its culture and heritage. We think they will be worthy adversaries for the other national winners” – said the MEP.
