Csaba Sógor’s visit in the villages of the Transylvanian Plain

2012-11-24

In his effort to support DAHR’s candidates for the national parliamentary elections, MEP Csaba Sógor accompanied deputy-candidate Csilla Hegedüs and senator-candidate Zoltán Lőrinczi in the villages of Suatu and Chesãu. Together they visited several Hungarian families from the constituency district to encourage them to vote.

DAHR’s politicians first visited the village of Suatu, which has around 500 Hungarian inhabitants. Thanks to the work of DAHR, the locality saw the introduction of a second Hungarian class in the school, as well as the re-establishment of the local folk dance group, whose members held their first rehearsal. Suatu has a significant, but in recent times partly forgotten folk dance tradition. Csilla Hegedüs previously promised to rekindle the tradition of folk dances; this is why she expressed her joy to have been able to take part in this community-building initiative.

Following the field-work from Suatu, the politicians from DAHR visited the village of Chesãu, where Horea Uioreanu and István Vákár, the president, respectively the vice-president of the Cluj County Council, and local mayor Márton Horváth inaugurated the newly restored road. The restoration of the road was financed by the Cluj County Council at the initiative of the local office of DAHR.

István Vákár, the vice-president of the Cluj County Council declared that the restoration works would not stop and that the council would soon start the restoration of the roads from Pãlatca, too. “We are a small community and we have to show our strength on 9 December, too”, he said.

MEP Csaba Sógor assured DAHR’s candidates from Cluj County of his support. During the inauguration of the road from Chesãu the Hungarian MEP from Transylvania observed that every vote counts during the election and that even in Brussels debates sometimes depend on only one vote. “The Hungarians from Transylvania need to show their strength on 9 December. Only together can we succeed in having a strong representation in Bucharest”, said Sógor.

Deputy candidate Csilla Hegedüs observed that, although they could remedy many problems locally, there would be issues that could only be solved in Bucharest. „The local leadership will be able to work with a deputy that aims to promote the interests Hungarians from the Transylvanian Plain”, promised Hegedüs.

Zoltán Lőrinczi, member of the Cluj Cunty Council and senator candidate pointed out that on the elections from June only 114 more votes would have been needed for Cluj County to have a sixth Hungarian member of the council, but there were also localities in which 3 more votes would have been needed for the election of a Hungarian mayor. „It is important that everyone goes to vote, its not all the same who represents the interests of Hungarians in Bucharest. We supported the restoration of the road from Chesãu, we will also support its extension and we will support the construction of the paramedic service’s building at Mociu. All these are to serve your needs”, he said.

Horea Uioreanu, a Kolozs Megyei Tanács elnöke sok sikert kívánt az RMDSZ jelöltjeinek és kifejtette, a megyei tanácsban is nagyon jó együtt dolgozni az RMDSZ frakciójával, és biztos abban, hogy a Romániai Magyar Demokrata Szövetség jelöltjei méltóképpen fogják a körzet érdekeit képviselni Bukarestben.

Horea Uioreanu, the president of the Cluj County Council wished success to DAHR’s candidates, declaring that in the county council, too DAHR’s representatives are good to work with and that he was sure that these candidates would be worthy representatives of the constituency’s interests.
