Marking the 9th of December as the Day of Solidarity in the history of the Transylvanian Hungarian community

DAHR’s Transylvanian Values caravan reached its last stop in Campia Turzii, where the Fekete-Piros folk dance group, the Árvalányhaj chorus, singer Zoltán Szabó, comedian Levente Zsók and the artists of the Hungarian Opera from Cluj-Napoca went on stage at the local Cultural Center.

The public was greeted by local DAHR president András Németi. DAHR president Hunor Kelemen also spoke to the audience.

“The campaign is not over yet, on Saturday and Sunday we can still ask our families and friends to vote because the elections on the 9th of December have great stakes. We are in danger because there will be a large turnout on Sunday and we must make sure that Hungarians also go to vote. In every man’s or family’s life there are turning points that define the future. The elections on Sunday are such a turning point for the Hungarian community in Transylvania” – said Hunor Kelemen.

DAHR’s president also stated that “in the next four years the Parliament will decide on the reform of the Constitution, property rights and the new development regions. We need to be there in order to be able to have a say in these matters. We have had results in the last 23 years that no one can deny, and we also had failures because we could not find the necessary 43% to complete our 7%. I am confident that we can correct our mistakes and gain more results.”

MEP Csaba Sógor also attended the event. “I remember the times when I lived here with my family and my parents cared for their garden as if it would belong to us forever. Many gardens have vanished since, not only ours. We Hungarians have one responsibility: we need to constantly plant and build, and once every four years to make sure that our presence in the Parliament is secure. Where DAHR is present, there is continuity, trust and honor. We need to plant again and again, we need to constantly build what others want to destroy”, said Sógor.

Local Senate candidate Zoltán Lőrinczi said: “This spring we only would have needed 144 more votes to have not five, but six Hungarian representatives in the Cluj County Council. With three more votes we would have had a Hungarian mayor in Baciu and in 2008 with 140 more votes we would have had a Hungarian senator in Cluj county. Every vote counts. You need to consider this on Sunday!”

MP candidate Csilla Hegedüs stated that “I’ve been running the restoration works of the Bánffy castle in Bonţida for 12 years, I know how to build and I want to build. Romanian parties do not care for the Hungarians in this region, their candidates do not have a message for the Hungarian voters. I feel that the interests of Hungarians can only be represented by Hungarians. My goal is to make sure that our children learn in Hungarian schools, young people find work and the elderly live their lives in peace. For this we need you to give us your vote of confidence on Sunday so that we can work for you and together with you. Always together.”
