13th Youth Business Program in Miercurea Ciuc
Almost 200 youth are participating at the 13th edition of the Youth Business Programme organized in Miercurea Ciuc between the 29th of July and the 4 th of August by the Calasanctius Scholarship Foundation, the CTP Transylvania Association, the Sapientia University and the Youth Council of Csik Region.
This year’s programme started with a team building exercise on Sunday, while the actual learning and work began on Monday. Wednesday morning started off with a presentation held by MEP Csaba Sógor, who has been a supporter of the programme since its inception thirteen years ago.
DAHR’s MEP Csaba Sógor spoke about his work, but also gave advice to the young people coming from all around Transylvania.
The Hungarian politician from Transylvania was asked about his opinion on what is needed to run a good business. Csaba Sógor replied that, besides a wide professional network of relationships, trust needs to be restored, because it is vital to business and society alike. – I also see knowledge as being another basis for success in the business world. Life is worthwhile if we can work in the field that we like. I love my job and I consider myself lucky, because I’ve been doing things I like all my life. But you need to constantly develop yourselves professionally if you want to do something you like all your life. You can become unemployed even with three degrees, this is why sometimes you need to switch professions – said the MEP.
Csaba Sógor considers that more young people from Transylvania should use opportunities to study abroad through the Erasmus programme and try to put the knowledge gained there to use at home. – This is why I support these programmes and the students that want to learn – said DAHR’s politician. The students asked questions about the future of the EU and the global problems it faces, as well as about the opportunities of those young people who have remained home.
Just like in previous years, the participating teams work in four different modules: they prepare basic and advanced level business plans, as well as marketing and media plans. Their work will be judged by a professional jury on the last day of the programme. György Mudri, director of the programme mentioned that the number of participants is rising from year to year. – The programme is a great help for young people in choosing a career and strengthens cross-border relationships because young people from Hungary and Romania work together on the plans. The programme’s success is also proven by the fact that the alumni return every year to speak about results in the business world – observed the programme director.
