Career and youth, as well as Career opportunities in Szeklerland were the subjects of the conference held between the 9th and the 11th of September at the Jakab Antal Study House in Miercurea Ciuc. MEP Csaba Sógor presented the internship program of his office in the European Parliament at the event.

 

Most of the youth leaders from Szeklerland took part in the sixth edition of the MIÉRT Conference opened by the president of the Harghita County Council, Csaba Borboly. Many subjects of interest for young people were discussed, but organizers also provided plenty of pass-time opportunities. Besides the professional presentations, the three-day event was a good opportunity to make new friendships and partnerships.

On the last day of the conference, MEP Csaba Sógor presented the internship program of his Brussels office. He said that young people not only learn about how does the European Parliament work during their internship, but also familiarize themselves with global issues such as the economic crisis, food safety or minority issues.

„I would like to offer a chance for young Hungarian professionals from Transylvania and also students to gain first-hand experiences about the EP” – declared Sógor. He added: the internship is not intended only  for young people interested in politics, it is also open to polytechnic intellectuals or economic professionals.

DAHR’s MEP explained that successful candidates will do a one month long internship in the European Parliament helping his Brussels staff. The MEP considers that it is important that candidates speak at least two foreign languages. – Our goal is to help young people gain as much professional experience as possible in those four weeks. This will increase their chances of finding a job, since in many sectors of the labor market relevant internships constitute an advantage – he added.
