Political Culture and Political Action was the main theme of the camp organized by The Hungarian Political Science Students' Association from Cluj-Napoca (KOMPOT) and The Hungarian Political Science Association of Romania (POLITEIA), a study camp aimed at young Political Scientists and students of the field.

This is the eight edition of the camp and speakers discussed issues such as Hungarian identity politics Romanian political culture, the Constitution, the relationship, the connections between identity and culture and the developing blog-culture.

MEP Csaba Sógor made a presentation in the camp on October 1st where he reflected upon the cultural differences and debate styles of the different nationalities. He emphasized that cultural differences are clearly visible in the everyday work, the German precision or the Italian temperamental style can be clearly observed.

„During the course of our work the try to follow the precise and factual debate style of the Anglo-Saxon countries in opposition to the subjective and sometimes biased manners of the Mediterranean states” – said the MEP.
Csaba Sógor also added that MEPs can only work effectively if they belong to a political group. „It is much easier to participate in the debate and formulate an opinion about the issues on the agenda if one has a team to back him, as opposed to being independent and waiting for an opportunity during the one-minute speeches” – he explained.

The MEP believes that political dialogue can only be successful if we are able to respect one’s opinion indifferent of political views or nationality. „The EP is about compromise, about the peaceful formulation of a common standpoint. As a member of the EPP I am aware that a large political group can convey us the possibility of swiftly reaching a consensus” – ended his speech Csaba Sógor.
