Csaba Sógor's campaign-2009

2009-05-13

June 7 will be a day of historic importance!

Csaba Sógor's campaign bus is touring villages in the region of Târgu Mureş (Marosvásárhely) today. In Sâncraiu de Mureş (Marosszentkirály), Sântioana de Mureş (Csittszentiván) and Berghia (Mezõbergenye), the MEP candidate spoke of the historical significance of 7 June. "Of 15 million Hungarians, only twelve-and-a-half million of us are left here in the Carpathian basin. However, we mustn't forget that in order for us to remain and to grow in strength, we must be present at every forum where decisions are made that are of relevance to our lives.

If one million Hungarians living in Transylvania turn out to vote on 7 June, then our community could have seven MEPS in Brussels. This would be more representatives than a good few European countries have, which would also show that we are a strong community, whose votes matter, and which cannot be disregarded," explained Csaba Sógor. The candidate also reminded his audience that this is the first time, when the entire Hungarian community in the Carpathian basin can vote together. "The historical moment has arrived for Hungarians living in Hungary, Slovakia and Transylvania; when we can show that we are together, and that together we are strong" - summed up Csaba Sógor, adding that "on 7 June we will also be voting ‘yes' in order to forget the ‘no' of 4 June!"
