Another pearl of Transylvania - Bonţida Bánffy Castle Csaba Sógor campaigns in Kolozs County.

European Parliament candidate Csaba Sógor kicked off his campaign tour of Kolozs County by visiting the Szórványkollégium (School for the Hungarian Diaspora) in Válaszút. Here he met with Zoltán Kallós, the brainchild of the Szórványkollégium, who said that currently 52 resident pupils and more than 70 pre-school children were studying in Válaszút. "It's a sad fact that there are more and more villages in Kolozs where Hungarians are disappearing, one example being Derzs, where only two Hungarians are still resident", explained Zoltán Kallós.

"But the good news is that the pupils of the Szórványkollégium include a large number of kids from mixed marriages; these children hardly knew any Hungarian, if at all, when they arrived here, whereas now they can speak it fluently, and will be continuing their studies in this language", the director of the Szórványkollégium of Válaszút explained to Csaba Sógor.

"We should also take the Bonchida [Bonţida] Bánffy Castle to Brussels, show it to as many people as possible, and lobby to secure as much financial aid as possible for restoring the Castle", declared Csaba Sógor after program head Csilla Hegedűs, managing director of the Transylvania Trust, showed Bánffy Castle to him. "This too is a pearl of Transylvania - one that we should present to as wide a circle as possible in Europe. Precisely for this reason - as we did with Teleki Téka [part of the Teleki-Bolyai Library in Marosvásárhely] and the Babeş-Bolyai University - we should present it in Brussels, in the European Parliament", exclaimed Csaba Sógor.

On Wednesday afternoon in Kolozsvár [Cluj-Napoca] the MEP candidate will be presenting the English and French-language publication entitled Living Transylvania. The book contains the texts of the lectures that were given at the Living Transylvania conference held in Brussels in June. The host Csaba Sógor will be accompanied at the presentation of the bilingual publication by the presenters of the Brussels conference: Péter Egyed, Enache Smaranda, Béla Markó, Vilmos Tánczos and Gábor Tompa. The presentation will be held at the Tranzit Ház [Transit House] in Kolozsvár, starting 5 p.m.
