2010-03-23

DAHR’s MEP Csaba Sógor organized another event Brussels promoting Transylvanian mineral waters on the World Day of Water on the 23rd of March 2010.

The visitors could taste five kinds of mineral waters from Covasna County, Romania on the second edition of Aqua Transylvaniae. The collection and presentation of the waters from Vâlcele, Olteni, Biborţeni and Covasna city were made by the Council of Covasna County with the aid of the Organization for Tourism in Covasna County. The presentation called „Mineral waters of Covasna County in labels” was the main attraction of the event.

Last year’s event was aimed at providing general information about traditional Szekler products, the water culture in Transylvania and the beauty of Szeklerland’s mineral water bearing regions through spreading of flyers and the tasting of mineral waters coming mainly from Harghita County.

This year visitors could taste water from Covasna County. The documentation enclosed contained the information about these waters. The brochure entitled "Szeklerland, the Land of Mineral Waters" presented the mineral composition and everyday use of Szekler mineral waters in general. Sógor Csaba also supported the publishing of a picture-map that presented the county’s touristical sites, the local history and culture, mineral waters and local cuisine.

- We are entitled to be proud of our mineral waters: due to their qualities, we are leaders in this field in our region. Water is an important political issue – Transylvania, Szeklerland has a great and open opportunity here – said Csaba Sógor at the opening ceremony.
