Csaba Sógor: the European Union continues to support farmers in Transylvania
„The common agricultural policy of the European Union makes it possible for farmers in Szeklerland to have a secure livelihood in their homeland and to provide for their families” – pointed our Csaba Sógor at the animal fair in Dănesti.
Several hundred people gathered in Dănești on Saturday, 25 April to see the animal fair traditionally organized every year on Saint George’s Day. Mayor Csongor-Ernő Bőjte sees in this a great opportunity for the farmers to meet and share their professional experiences in raising livestock. “It is fortunate that Szekler farmers live in strong communities. Farming and raising livestock is still one of the most important sources for making a living in this region. It isn’t easy to live off the land and for the land, this is why our role in Brussels is to convey what these farmers need and to support their interests”, said Csaba Sógor.
The RMDSZ MEP also explained the way in which most of the decisions regarding agriculture are made in Brussels and the decisive role the European Parliament plays in this process. RMDSZ MEPs also contributed to preserving the agricultural subsidy framework for the next multiannual budgetary framework, so that farmers in Transylvania can benefit from them in the future as well.
