We have lost a great European
It is with great regret and sadness that we MEPs of RMDSZ (Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania) have learned today about the passing of our President Wilfried Martens.
He was a wise leader, a genuine European, an extraordinary person endowed with great powers of understanding people and political phenomena.
For us, Wilfried Martens was an excellent dialogue partner, a leader who had a deep comprehension of the specific problems of minority communities across Europe.
Europe has lost a great leader. We pay homage to his memory and we convey sincere condolences to his bereaved family.
