Csaba Sógor in the EP: The report of the US State Department criticises minority protection in Romania
The US State Department’s annual Country Report on Human Rights brings serious criticism to Romania in regards to the situation of the Hungarian minority – pointed out MEP Csaba Sógor during the European Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg. In the opinion of the RMDSZ MEP, president Klaus Johannis’s statement, according to which Romania is a model state in terms of minority protection, is simply unrealistic.

Conference on the importance of education in the mother tongue
MEPs Andrea Bocskor, Andor Deli, Pál Csáky and Csaba Sógor organized a conference entitled Mother tongue vs state language - language issues in the European education systems on the 7th of March in the European Parliament. The opening speech was held by European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Navracsics Tibor, who pointed out during the speech: „Culture and language are bound together, and mother tongue education ensures the survival and prosperity of autochtonous national minorities in their homeland."

Csaba Sógor calls for a bigger budget for the Europe for Citizens programme
The impact of the Europe for Citizens programme has become more significant with the accession of the Eastern European countries. This is the reason for which it should have a larger budget – stated Csaba Sógor in the EP. The RMDSZ MEP pointed out that the programme aims to give answers to issues raised in Central and Eastern Europe, and the Western Balkans: historical reconciliation, processing the common past and building mutual trust.
