The European Citizens’ Initiative to start next week
The official launch of the European Citizens’ Initiative, introduced by the Lisbon Treaty, is scheduled to happen Sunday, the 1st of April. An initiative needs to be supported by at least one million EU citizens coming from at least 7 member states in order to call on the European Commission to start legislative procedures in a subject that is within its jurisdiction.

DAHR’s youth caravan was in Baraolt this weekend
At the initiative of the youth candidates for local elections from the Covasna regional branch of DAHR, the Alliance’s youth caravan began its journey at the beginning of March. The young candidates will visit 20 localities in order to present their plans and programmes.

The revolution of 1848, commemorated at Odorheiu Secuiesc through a science history conference
This year, the Mayor’s Office of Odorheiu Secuiesc organized a three-day event in order to commemorate the revolution and war of independence of 1848. Alongside the official commemoration in the Márton Áron Square, locals could also take part in cultural and traditional programmes and attend a two-day scientific conference as well.

Commemoration of the 1848 revolution in Strasbourg
At the initiative of Edit Bauer and Alajos Mészáros, Hungarian MEPs from Slovakia, this year too, members of the Hungarian EPP delegation paid their respects at the Sándor Petőfi memorial column in Strasbourg.The column, erected in 1990, is the common achievement of the Alsatian city that is home to the EP and of the French-Hungarian Friendship Society.
