Young local leaders encouraged to apply for EU funds
DAHR’s MEP Csaba Sógor called on young local leaders to prepare local and micro-regional development plans at the 11th edition of the MIÉRT Academy on Friday, September 28th. Along with project development expert András Farkas, the MEP held a presentation at the event with the motto „Young people in local government” and presented a call for applications for the young local government officials with the prize being a professional visit to Brussels.

Sógor: The issue of self-governance must be kept on the agenda
„Once again, Hungarians in Romania had to face the fact that their country’s leadership does not take their needs into account. There are several well functioning models of minority self-governance all over the world. My proposition was a possible form of this self governance, but it seems that we are not even ready to have theoretical debates on the subject,” said DAHR’s MEP Csaba Sógor regarding today’s decision of the Romanian Senate to reject the legislative proposal concerning the autonomy of Szeklerland, a legislative initiative signed by former MP Dezső Becsek-Garda and former senator Csaba Sógor in 2005.

The EP Minority Intergroup adopted a resolution in the Mikó Case
At its meeting in Strasbourg on Thursday the European Parliament’s Traditional Minorities, National Communities and Languages Intergroup adopted a resolution and showed its solidarity with regard to the case of the Székely Mikó High School and the protests of the Hungarian minority in Romania.

The court ruling that neglected the basic principles of the rule of law, questioned the right to property of the historical Hungarian churches and set in motion the renationalization of the Székely Mikó High School in Sfântu Gheorghe was mentioned once again Wednesday afternoon at the plenary session of the European Parliament.

13th Youth Business Program in Miercurea Ciuc
Almost 200 youth are participating at the 13th edition of the Youth Business Programme organized in Miercurea Ciuc between the 29th of July and the 4 th of August by the Calasanctius Scholarship Foundation, the CTP Transylvania Association, the Sapientia University and the Youth Council of Csik Region.

Csaba Sógor calls for increased support of multilingualism
DAHR’s MEP Csaba Sógor addressed a letter to Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth. In his letter the MEP saluted the Erasmus for All initiative highlighting the measures that support the use of languages and multilingualism.
